Hair styles? How should I get my haircut?

I want to cut my hair, its very long, it hits midway on my upper arm between my shoulder and elbow. It's dark, fine, but there is alot. I have an oval-heart shaped face. although once i was told it was square which i do NOT think it is. how should i get it cut? im always nervous about going to get it cut, because i like to keep it long, im only getting maybe 3-5 inches off. What style should i ger?

Do some layers! My hair was straight and long (middle of my back) and I got 8 inches cut off and added some small layers. It was the best thing I ever did! I got some cute layers so it's fun to style and it's easier to manage. Not to mention I don't spend as much money on shampoo! :)

Well with an oval shaped face you can wear pretty much any hairstyle. Your hair is thick Why not try a layered haircut with tossled bangs? It might look really good.
